Welcome to 360Construction.ie
This website is designed to aid pupils studying Construction Studies in Secondary Schools in Ireland. The website is designed around the key stages of constructing a house from beginning to end, focusing on the key points along the way. As you will see, it includes a variety of videos, pictures, 4K time lapses as well as some 360 degree photography. The content has been chosen from a selection of building sites in Cork County, Ireland, and shows how homes are constructed to incorporate up-to-date building regulations.
Not sure how exactly a house is constructed? Then why not try our 'Virtual Tour', designed to take you out on site without leaving your desk!
My name is Adrian O'Leary, a graduate of Material & Architectural Technology in the University of Limerick, Ireland. As part of my degree program, I was required to carry out a Final Year Project.
Having studied Construction Studies for my Leaving Certificate and having spent time teaching the subject during School Placement, I found it extremely difficult to find suitable videos and images depicting homes being built inline with Irish Building Regulations, for use in Construction Studies. It was this lack of resources which led me to decide that I would take it upon myself to create a bank of visual resources for use in the classroom of Irish second-level schools by both pupils and teachers alike.
As I thought about the idea further I decided to look into the possibility of using 360 degree photography to give pupils a true sense of what it would be like to be on-site during the various stages of building a home. These 360 degree images and videos are embedded in this website and are also integrated into the rather unique 'Virtual Tour' section. This brings a whole new dimension to visual resources whereby a pupil or teacher can virtually walk around a home and explore the various stages involved in constructing one.
